Logistics giant DHL has opened a new carbon-neutral logistics centre in Germany

On May 29, according to foreign media reports, in order to expand logistics service capabilities, Deutsche Post DHL is expanding its campus in Leipzig/Halle and building a new logistics center.

It is understood that the new logistics center covers 34,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 55,000 pallet Spaces, and will be put into use in the fourth quarter. The logistics center has an intermodal transport network, including domestic express logistics, rail and road networks, and a cargo airport. Leipzig/Halle is the largest hub in DHL's global logistics network, from which air freight can be sent anywhere.

Rainer Haag, CEO of DHL Germany and Alps, said that the construction will enhance DHL's logistics capabilities in the central German metropolitan area and Leipzig/Halle, helping customers to grow and expand their business in Germany, Europe and the global market through efficient logistics services. Additional cargo storage capacity will also be available for technical customers as well as customers in different sectors.

In addition, the carbon-neutral logistics center is consistent with DHL's commitment to sustainability, and its photovoltaic power generation system can generate 1,000 kilowatts of electricity at peak times. With the help of a smart energy air heat pump, the temperature inside the facility will always remain comfortable, while sealed doors, low-energy LED lighting and a solar water heating system will complete its energy-saving features
